===== The Disaster =====

"It's December 31st, 2039. People are putting together their new year plans, one of the few days everyone gets off all year. A day to rejoice. A day to celebrate. **A day for everything to come crashing down.** Very few citizens of The Underground are still alive from that day, given it was 3 generations past, but the story has never died. The alarms blare, piercing shrieking across the entire city. //"Evacuate!"// The bombs start landing, a deafening orchestra of explosions plays for everyone in the city. //"Please seek shelter in The Underground stations."// People begin running Underground. The ground shakes as The Corporation's factory comes crashing to the ground, its irradiated materials spilling everywhere. Radiation fills the air. Poison. Explosions. Destruction!

"But fret not, the population gets underground. Miraculously, no one is harmed. //"Stop the radiation!"// Quick thinking leads to everyone barring the entrances with lead panels. //"Are we safe now?"//. The Director goes to a balcony, overseeing his frightened friends. Some say these words still echo around Terminus to this day. //"We are a community! Nothing, and I mean nothing can tear us apart! I can't lie to you, I don't know how long we'll be down here, nor how'll we get past the first night. But I know we must, so we shall. We are now The Underground, one for all, and all for one!"// 

"Then the builders became builders and started building, the gardeners became gardeners and start gardening, and the Secretary? Well actually I don't know what they do, but they seem important. Everyone working together means the Underground has now become a nice and //**very cosy**// place to live. The Director says everything up there is still uninhabitable, so we're gonna be down here a bit longer, but hey, that just means more stories!"
